Manages the medical data collection system in accordance with established state guidelines to assure current reporting of all cancer diagnoses to the Louisiana State Tumor Registry. Assists in maintenance of hospital’s compliance with established standards of the American College of Surgeons to maintain accreditation status. Assists in data collection and compilation of the Woman's Hospital Cancer Annual Report as well as in other specialty reports as requested. Performs follow-up and treatment information retrieval from physician offices as necessary to comply with the ACOS Commission on cancer standards.
Education: Associate's Degree in NCRA-approved allied health field is required.
Training and Experience: A minimum of two years experience in tumor registry is preferred. CTR or CTR eligibility is preferred.
Job Knowledge: Must possess excellent clerical skills, computer data entry skills, organizational skills, communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology. Proficient writing skills are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft office is essential. Previous coding experience in ICD-9-CM or CPT is preferred.
