The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking a Machinery Breakdown Risk Engineer to join its Troy, MI Branch.
This position supports the Chubb Commercial underwriting departments relative to the corporate goals of profit, growth and producer relationships. Managing client service activities in a regional service territory in support of sales and production goals of the assigned branch are also included.
The main responsibilities of this position include: *Conducting pre-underwriting risk evaluations of exposures relative to boiler and machinery breakdown and boiler infrared thermography. *Inspecting the installation, operation and condition of insured's property. *Determining the adequacy of safety devices, control systems and preventative maintenance programs. *Obtaining previous loss history and rating information for underwriting. *Outlining corrective measures for insureds relative to unsatisfactory exposures as well as working in tandem to implement improvements. *Completing boiler pressure vessel jurisdictional reports. *Determining the cause of accidents and making reports of damage to be used by others to determine the company's liability of loss. *Re-inspection of insured's exposure such as addition or deletion of equipment as well as process changes.
Skills and Competencies: *Technical expertise to successfully identify and analyze hazards as well as propose and implement risk improvement strategies are essential requirements of the position. *Proven ability to influence and motivate senior management of clients as well as establish and maintain favorable producer relations. *Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance for boilers and other pressure vessels is essential. *Thorough knowledge of National and State boiler and pressure vessel regulatory codes is required. *Complete proficiency in all Loss Control risk consultant laptop applications as well as full proficiency in Microsoft Word is required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Irwin 5.21 would be helpful. *Time management skills and the ability to function as an integral member of a cohesive client service team are essential core competencies. *Aptitude to produce thorough and precise written and verbal reports to all levels of management is crucial.
Education and Experience: *Four year college degree in the sciences, engineering, math, technology or one of the various loss prevention degrees is preferred. *National Board Commission certification is required. *Minimum of one to five years of loss control and/or risk consultant experience in multi-line survey and service is preferred.
